I have been to NYC loads of times but this trip was extra special. I was more adventurous with food, shows, and sightseeing. My family took this trip at a refreshing slow pace which works cause like Disney, you will end up walking for miles. We took the train in from DC union station to Penn, got there about 10am and went straight to John's Pizza for lunch. It is our favorite spot for NY pizza. Great thin crust with amazing toppings. It is located right across the majestic theater where Phantom of the Opera is currently playing.
After lunch we went straight to Times Square for some shopping. I honestly don't need any more clothes but my heart said otherwise. Lucky for us the weather was amazing. Sunny, warm, and only a 3 minute light drizzle occasionally.
Snack Time came and we endulged in Magnolia Bakery's Banana Pudding which is basically pudding made by the gods because it was rich, creamy, dreamy, and yummy. We went to the one located in Rockefeller Center. It is a small bakery and can get crowded sometime, I would suggest stopping by early in the morning....but seriously you need like 3 buckets of these to satiate your pudding cravings.
To end the day we took a stroll through Washington Square park and walked under that famous arch. The greenery and the city life was so calming. People walking their dogs and just enjoying life was amazing to see. We stopped by the famous Strand Bookstore which is loaded with antique to modern books. They have great gifts there too where I splurged and got me a mug and a tote. (again, don't need them but my heart disagreed).
Spanish Food was next on the menu for dinner. Ever since our trip to Spain about 3 years ago I have been craving some authentic Spanish Food. We found this cute restaurant around Chelsea called Tertulia. I'll tell you this, this was pretty close to authentic Spanish food. Serano ham with tomato spread on bread...YUMMM. The ham croquettes were to die for, especially with some type of apricot jam, my mouth just waters writing about it. The potato torta was good, sadly was served cold which is not how it is in Spain but the flavor was well done.
All in all, Very successful travel day....I was beaming with excitement from what was yet to come on this trip. 2 broadway shows, and Museum hopping!!!!! Till tommorrow XOXO
