Let me start out by writing........God I needed this. I needed a getaway from the Northern Virginia area. Trade in the sound of traffic, the teams meeting ringtone and unread email notifications for the sound of ocean waves. There is just something about going to the beach that literally washes away worries and anxieties for a bit. It allowed be time to destress from work and this pandemic!!
My family and I have never been to Hilton Head before so we came into this beach vacay with open minds and empty stomachs. Which honestly I wish every vacation would always feel like your first, that way you don't compare it to the other times you visited.
South Carolina has been blessed by the ocean gods with warm water!!! OMG it was *chef kiss* perfect. The sand... firm but warm between your toes and the weather not balls hot if I may say so myself. IDEAL reading weather. But to be honest I didn't to as much reading as I did eating and ........drinking? If you have never had the pleasure to visit Hilton Head may I be the first to say, If you have the opportunity..GO and head straight to San Miguels at Shelter Cove Harbor and Marina where you can enjoy the best Mexican food with amazing Margs while looking at other peoples yachts that you wish could afford yet alas....are still waiting to be the Melinda to someones Bill (RIP..maybe not the best marriage comparison). My sister and I definitely gave in to some post-flight libations the day we arrived paired with an AMAZING quest dip......I'm having a moment now thinking about it.
Hilton Head Island is a charming southern island also blessed with the presence of iconic business such as Cook Out and Publix and only a hop skip away from gorgeous Savannah. Best believe as a northerner living in a semi southern state I am deprived of these amazing establishments so it is always a treat to grab Publix subs and the usual cheeseburger and quesadilla platter from Cookout. (pro tip...best place to each Cook Out....in the car).
The only way to end a perfect beach vacation is to enjoy a Poolside Pina Colada (or 2)......which is exactly what I did (while watching the Olympics...GO USA WOMENS WATER POLO). Until next time Hilton Head and to team USA.....we will see you in PARIS!!!!
